  • I agree except that Rome was falling on it's own before Christianity took hold. Constantine saved what was left of Rome by accepting Christianity as the the mainstream religion it became.

  • No, Rome (the capital of the Roman empire) was moved to Constantinople and then Constantine converted to Christianity after it was moved. Then Christianity and the perverted Catholic church went mainstream. Christ was never self hating, but the Catholic Church certainly perverted his words to make the act of worship and belief a ritual in self loathing and hating that's for sure. And the fundies of today have inherited that belief but not in such a ritualistic fashion. Right wing Christians site the Old Testement more than the new testement unless of course you are talking about the book of Revelations. Right wingers are fundies and literalists. Liberal Christians see much of the Bible as myth, storytelling or history of the Jewish religion and people, and mostly revere the philosophy of Christ as a philosophy to live by. In other words, living by his example. Many liberals are Christian, I suppose many leftists are too. But many leftists are agnostic, buddhist or atheist as well. We're far more diverse and open to ideas and paths to faith. Including the writings of the Gnostic Gospels. Right wingers are far more rigid, dogmatic and far more literalist when it comes to the Bible. They believe in a strict adherence to the Old Testement. So in other words, not an ounce of what you said is true. Or, is it??? LOL.

  • The fact that your argument is about Religion is your answer.

    Christian Fundamentalists tend to follow the Socially Conservative party, because the social conservatives are more concerned with the prescence of religious morals/ethics in local government. Also, the Fundamentalists do not want to adhere to a big bad federal government, they like smaller government that will represent their ideals. Finally, Fundamentalists show a preference for Authoritarian (Stronger Leaders) communities.

    Your observations are good, but the fact remains the same: the stricter religions are going to stick with the conservatives, in order to encourage local over federal government, and in order to keep christian ideals and morals in place in our social structure. It is not to say the lefties are not religious people, they are... but the lefties are also in support of gay marriage. I can assure you a Christian Fundamentalist Community is not.

    One fact you have backwards: the strict constrictionists (literal interpreters of the constitution and of the bible) belong to the conservative party. Your more evangelical and extreme christians are right wingers no doubt. It is the Social Libertarians that apply a fable or myth-like interpretation to the bible.

    One thing you are right about: a left winger is much more likely to advocate diplomacy and turn his cheek rather than drop the bomb.
